Oakleaf is proud to be partnering with a small entrepreneurial engineering business with a global reach based in London in their search for a Head of People and Culture. This is a full-time permanent opportunity based in the office 4 days a week and 1 day working from home.
What is the role?
Our client is looking to hire an experienced and credible Head of People ad Culture who is used to working in a small (less than 100 headcount) and dynamic business with an international remit.
The Head of People and Culture will develop and deliver the strategic people strategies to support the organisation’s vision and long-term growth strategy. The role will report into the COO and business partner the C-suite and management population, as well as managing 1 direct report initially.
People are at the heart of this business and this role is essential to the well-being of it’s people. The role of Head of People and Culture will be hands on as well as strategic, being viewed in the business as a key people leader, and somebody approachable at all times. An “open door” policy is expected for all leaders in the business, and this hire will be somebody with their finger on the pulse of the people.
The role will have ultimate responsibility for strategic planning, business partnering, talent acquisition and workforce planning, ED&I, HR operations and engagement for a small but growing London based team and expatriate workforce.
The business is entrepreneurial with exciting growth plans across multiple international geographies.
Candidate profile
You will be a true generalist who can think strategically and commercially in a small dynamic business with an international remit. You will have the experience and confidence to business partner the C-suite, guiding, influencing, and challenging in the appropriate way. You will also be comfortable providing an operational HR service where required, understand the importance of being present, and be able to have your finger on the pulse of the people.
You will have experience working at a senior level with an international remit, ideally having supported expatriate colleagues working overseas. You will be solution focused, flexible in your style and support the entrepreneurial ethos of the business. You must be a leader.
You will be innovative in your approach to HR, drawing on past experience as well as new ideas to make impact. You will be people focused, commercially astute, and know what “excellence” looks and feels like. You will be data driven with an inquisitive mind to understand the human impact behind the numbers. You will be willing to be hands on as well as strategic.
Excellent knowledge in UK employment law is required as well as the ability to liaise with legal counsel for more complex matters. Experience with tribunals and working with ACAS is desirable.
Ideally, you will have experience opening new business streams, and business locations, although this isn’t a prerequisite.
