Interim Benefits Senior Associate (remote)

  • Duration: 3-6 months (temp to perm)

We are working with a client who is seeking a Benefits Senior Associate to oversee the day-to-day administration and analysis of their Canadian benefit programs. You will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s benefit plans are running smoothly whilst interacting with employees and HR inquiries.

You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of data in HRIS and vendor systems, coordinating open enrollment processes, and handling benefits queries and escalations. Additionally, you will conduct reconciliations, audits, and ensure that our benefits programs comply with both Canadian and US laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day administration and analysis of the Company’s Canada benefit plans and programs and support with the US plans
  • Responsible for benefits queries – take appropriate action to direct or solve escalated benefit issues; research, troubleshoot and provide timely resolution
  • Coordinate the open enrollment timelines and process which includes facilitating presentations to employees
  • Work with vendors and HRIS to ensure accuracy in transmission of eligibility and enrollment files
  • Ensure accuracy of data in HRIS and vendor systems
  • Understand leave programs and support Leave of Absence coordinator.
  • Assist with the formulation of policies and procedures
  • Interpret benefit plan provisions, policies, and procedures – makes sure all benefits communications are up-to date
  • Ensure benefits programs comply with the laws and regulations of Canada and the US
  • Conduct reconciliations and audits

Key requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in benefits administration, with a focus on Canadian benefits and retirement plans
  • Advanced Excel and Google-based database management skills, including pivot tables
  • Experience with benefits enrollment/administration systems (Workday experience is a plus)
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian benefits, including provincial variations, and US benefit plans
  • Familiarity with CEBS designation or courses leading to it is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to troubleshoot and solve complex issues
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Experience with conducting benefits audits and ensuring compliance with government regulations
